Qualifications:
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to build positive strategic relationships.
- Experience with a university or college comprehensive campaign is desirable.
- Significant demonstrated professional experience (10+ years) in marketing communications, with an emphasis on Advancement activities is required.
- B.A. or higher in public relations, communications, marketing or related field. Masters preferred.
- Strong writing ability, and experience developing written content for a wide variety of communications activities.
- Strong marketing and sale orientation and skillset, including experience in market research, audience segmentation, campaign organization and management and brand reputation management.
- Experience in the use of e-communications software and email marketing software, ability to troubleshoot and identify and resolve issues in this area.
Job Summary:
The Senior Director for Marketing Communications for Advancement will be a senior leader and active team member of the strategic planning group in Valparaiso University's Integrated Marketing & Communications department(IMC). This position will provide advice and counsel to the Vice President of Advancement and the Advancement leadership team and will have a strong track record in developing and executing marketing communications strategies, combined with proven experience in the area of University Advancement. This position will also provide significant communications support to the Advancement department related to the creation and implementation of a comprehensive fundraising campaign.
This role will be responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive marketing communications strategy that supports the broad communications efforts of Annual Giving, Alumni Relations and other key operations of the Advancement department. the successful candidate will work in partnership with IMC's Creative Services team to initiate and execute these plans.
This is a full-time role, based at Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana.
Responsibilities:
- Development and execution of marketing communications strategies and tactics to help achieve desired Advancement/University objectives.
- Serving as a liaison between Advancement and all University colleges and key departments to ensure consistency in the implementation of Advancement communication strategies.
- Providing communications support and counsel to the Vice President of Advancement and Advancement executive team members.
