B.A. Marketing, PR, Communications or related. Experience/Skills:
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to build positive, strategic relationships with executive-level professionals.
- 6-10 years work experience in the strategic marketing communications area with an emphasis on developing marketing strategies - experience in higher education preferred but not required.
- B.A. or higher, in marketing, public relations, communications or related field - with strong marketing and communications planning skills.
- Demonstrated capabilities in writing/editing, plan development, oversight and execution.
- Ability to work independently in a highly collaborative, cross-functional team atmosphere.
This position is a full-time role, based at Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana.
Job Summary:
The Director of Marketing Communications will be reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing Communications. The Director of Marketing Communications provides strategic marketing and communications support to the College at Valparaiso University. The director will lead the development and implementation of a strategic marketing communication plan for all academic colleges and the Graduate School, working closely with the academic leadership for each to define and advance their and the University's goals.
The chosen candidate will have a proven track record of building successful relationships with executive leadership and in developing and executing strategic marketing and communications plans. As part of the above, the director will work closely with members of the IMC creative services team to coordinate and execute tactical plans.
Responsibilities
- Proven expertise in developing and implementing marketing and communication strategies and tactics to help achieve desired unit/university objectives.
- Lead integrated marketing and communications planning and initiatives in both traditional and digital platforms, using data-driven decision making.
- Counsel the Deans and other key stakeholders on marketing, communications, and messaging. Work collaboratively across campus to help support College initiatives and goals.
- Use marketing knowledge and relationship skills to deliver innovative and results-oriented marketing strategies in support of College goals.
