BA or higher degree. Experience/Skills:
- B.A. from an accredited college in Web Design/Development, Graphic Design, or related field.
- Five to seven years' experience in web design and development. (Strong knowledge in Photoshop, CSS, and WordPress 3.0).
- Demonstrated ability to effectively identify, troubleshoot, understand, and propose solutions for challenges in web development environment.
- Experience in search engine optimization & marketing, email marketing, and social media marketing desired.
- Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to work well alone, one-on-one, or as part of a larger team.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Willing and able to support the mission of Valparaiso University.
Job Summary:
The Associate Director Creative Services - Web Designer/Programmer/Developer supports the mission of Valparaiso University by helping develop and implement effective web strategies. The Associate Director demonstrates solid web design and development skills and can analyze and offer solutions to a host of usability and user experience challenges and follow through with implementing them.
As part of the above, the Associate Director helps design, program, develop and manage university web sites with a focus on Enrollment and Advancement of Valparaiso University. The Associate Director works closely with individuals in the Office of Integrated Marketing and Communications, Information Technology, and other campus administrators.
Reporting Relationship:
- Reports to the Vice President of Integrated Marketing & Communications.
- Works on cross-functional teams with other IMC staff on various projects.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Design web site templates, produce graphics, and maintain web sites for the university and its constituent colleges, departments, and offices.
- Provide training and support to university web site managers working within the university content management system, with specific focus on visual identity, content formatting, and user experience.
- Consult with IMC team members on projects related to web and electronic communication.
- Understand, utilize and maintain concepts of standards-based web design and development.
