Bachelor's Degree required. Experience/Skills:
- Minimum of two years of relevant work experience, preferably in development/advancement, database systems, or data/report analysis required.
- Familiarity with techniques and tools used to modify, retrieve, manipulate and report data from relational database management systems, such as SQL and/or Business Objects, required.
- Scrupulous attention to matters of discretion and confidentiality required.
- Demonstrated skill and knowledge of (or ability to learn quickly) the internal workings of the University as well as the technology tools available to Advancement and Alumni Relations, including: the Database System, a Microsoft Windows computer environment, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access, required.
- Experience with constituent management databases and/or reporting software preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to comfortably handle multiple routines, shifting priorities, and special projects in a timely and organized fashion.
- Excellent analytical abilities.
- Superior interpersonal, verbal, and writing skills with careful attention to detail.
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of complex fundraising and advancement operations and an understanding of how prospect management system enterprises are integrated into those operations preferred.
- Experience working in a complex, hierarchical organization preferred.
- Knowledge of Valparaiso University or experience in higher education preferred.
Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Director of Research and Prospect Management, the Prospect Management Analyst will serve as an integral member of the Research & Prospect Management team. By providing strategic information, tactical analysis, and consultative support, this team functions as a critical component of the fundraising unit at Valparaiso University and helps drive the success of the division's prospect identification, tracking, and portfolio balancing efforts. The Prospect Management Analyst will be responsible for working with a division-wide prospect management system to design and execute strategies that will assist in growing the size and value of the qualified prospect pool at all levels.
Responsibilities include:
- Designing and producing meaningful regular and ad-hoc prospect management reports to support a metric-driven fundraising system.
- Coordinating prospect assignments; aligning prospects with University gift officers through the identification and analysis of strategic prospect data with the intent of maximizing fundraising potential.
- In collaboration with leadership, managing individual gift officer portfolios, routinely evaluating content, size and value, and assisting in the development of strategies for engagement with these prospects through consultative review and recommendation.
- Coordinating and responding to prospect management requests, including preparing ad-hoc reports for Advancement staff, providing instruction on all prospect management areas of the database, and maintaining data integrity and accuracy in these areas at all times.
- Assisting the Director of Research and Prospect Management with special projects when necessary.
- Advancement events as needed, modeling the level of teamwork expected of all University Advancement and Alumni Relations employees.
