B.S. degree in either electrical or mechanical engineering or engineering technology. Experience/Skills:
Minimum knowledge, skills and experience:
- Ten or more years of industrial experience.
- Exemplary ability to troubleshoot complex industrial and commercial electromechanical systems.
- Exemplary ability to repair analog and digital circuitry including power supplies, fault detection circuitry, microwave componets, and waveguide.
- Familiarity in the proper use and care of various electronic test equipment including oscilloscopes, logic and spectrum analyzers.
- Sound design/development methodology background. Ability to develop and update operating and maintenance procedures.
- Comfortable performing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing repairs to unfamiliar systems.
- Must have experience with industrial automation equipment.
- Ability to comprehend technical drawings and documentation.
- Possess outstanding interpersonal communication and human relations skills.
- Possess good written communication skills.
- Demonstrated lifelong learner.
- Familiar with Microsoft Office tools.
Desired knowledge, skills and experience:
- Knowledge of the Edge software and EEC radar systems.
- At least four years of experience with radar or digital signal processing equipment.
- Experience in performing data analysis to determine what system, subsystem and components require action to improve radar performance.
- Understanding of Doppler antenna patterns, phase coherency, matched filters, servos, high-voltage transmitters, and traveling wave tubes.
- Network administrator knowledge and experience a plus.
- Knowledge of programming (UNIX, C++, CVS, and MATLAB)
- Familiarity with government operations security requirements.
Job Summary:
The Technical Equipment Specialist will be responsible to monitor, maintain, and coordinate factory-required service on all commercially-sourced building systems, subsystems, and capital equipment.
Within the Donald V. Fites Engineering Innovation Center:
- Monitor and coordinate factory-required service on all mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems and subsystems.
- Maintain, monitor and coordinate factory-required service on all capital equipment (non-building systems) within the laboratory suites.
- Coordinate the repair of all building finishes (e.g. drywall, painting, etc.)
Within the Department of Geography and Meteorology's Simultaneous dual-polarization Doppler Radar Facility:
- Monitor, maintain, and coordinator factory-required service on all hardware and software systems and subsystems.
On the Valparaiso University campus:
- Troubleshoot and coordinate customer service activities of high-technology systems on the Valparaiso University campus.
Within the James S. Markiewicz Solar Energy Research Facility:
- Monitor, maintain, and keep operational the College of Engineering James S. Markiewicz Solar energy Research Facility.
Other special assignments within the College of Engineering (e.g., solar installation maintenance, wind turbine, programming building data to digital signage, etc.)
