Director of International Students and Scholars
Manages international students and scholars, maintains immigration compliance and coordinates cross-cultural programming. Advises the Valparaiso International Student Association (VISA).
Dr. Alan Bloom
Associate Professor of History
Professor Alan Bloom has taught at Valparaiso University since 1997. Before joining the History Department at VU, he received his B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara and his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from Duke University. He teaches a variety of classes such as the American Revolution, the US Civil War, the History of Chicago, US History through Sports, and US History through Film. He is writing a book on Chicago during the nineteenth century. Professor Bloom recently won Valparaiso University's Martin Luther King Award and its Research Professorship. He is married and has three sons.
Director of the MBA Program
Bruce earned his MBA from the University of Chicago majoring in Finance. He brings to VU 35 years of executive management experience with large multi-national corporations, medium sized domestic corporations, and a start-up educational technology firm. His positions include Vice President, Finance; Corporate Financial Officer; Director, Finance & Planning Overseas Operations; Corporate Strategic Planning Manager; Corporate Manufacturing Manager; Market Research Analyst; and Entrepreneur.
Mark Budnik, Ph.D.
After graduating from the University of Illinois in 1990, Professor Budnik began a sixteen year career in the semiconductor field, culminating as a Principal Engineer at Hitachi Semiconductor. Since 2006, he has been an assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering at Valparaiso University. He is the author of several engineering books and book chapters and more than twenty-five peer reviewed publications. He is active in supporting independent student research/work projects and has mentored more than thirty such ventures.
International Student Advisor
Advises international students and scholars on immigration issues and cross-cultural adjustment.

Provides administrative support to the Office of International Programs and assists the university community with questions and services related to international programs
Associate Director of Middle Eastern Educational Development
Ibrahim graduated from Valparaiso University in May 2010 with a degree in Management. He coordinates the events for Middle Eastern students and aids them in their transition into American life and a life at VU. Ibrahim is also responsible for recruiting and developing educational programs geared towards Middle Eastern students. He is also the MBA representative on the Graduate Student Advisory Council.
