Building Supervisor
Job Description, Duties and Qualifications


Description:

The building supervisor is responsible for the overall supervision of the facility, part-time personnel and all programs held in the ARC while on duty. Major responsibilities include enforcing rules and regulations and handling all situations (emergency and non-emergency) that occur in the absence of full-time staff. Individuals must be thoroughly trained in all functioning areas of the building (weight room, service area, etc.), with experience in each area. Building Supervisors work directly with and are responsible to the Director/Assistant Director of Intramurals and Campus Recreation.

Duties:

  • Enforce ARC usage guidelines
  • Inform patrons of building rules and procedures
  • Maintain athletic practice or Intramural program schedules
  • Check patrons for proper VU identification
  • Perform first aid and initiate emergency action plan
  • Oversee all Intramural and Campus Recreation staff on duty
  • Coordinate payroll procedures while on duty
  • Keep hourly statistics of patrons usage
  • Hourly maintenance and cleaning of Cardio equipment
  • General upkeep of ARC cleanliness and facility
  • Maintain safety equipment and first aid supplies
  • Wear ARC Staff attire and be sure staff on duty is wearing attire

Qualifications:

  • Must be currently enrolled as a Valparaiso University student
  • Must have previous work experience in the Intramural and Campus Recreation Program
  • Must have current CPR, First Aid and AED training and complete the ARC Emergency Training Course
  • Knowledge of Valparaiso University policies
