Service Area Attendant
Job Description, Duties and Qualifications


Description:

The position consists of providing service to both men and women using the ARC facility. The main function of this job is to issue equipment to patrons and exam that equipment upon its return. Check-out privileges are available to students and faculty/staff with proper identification. The Service Area attendant is also required to assist the Building Supervisor in any said task.

Duties:

  • Check IDs before issuing equipment.
  • Issuing equipment to users upon presentation of proper ID and completed check-out slips.
  • Receive checked-out equipment, assessing any damages that may have occurred during use.
  • Keep area clean and neat by keeping equipment in proper storage place and keeping papers, books, etc. out of sight.
  • Be knowledgeable of activities and programs in order to answer questions and give direction.
  • Prepare equipment for activities as needed.
  • Carry out basic first aid as needed or directed by the Building Supervisor.
  • Notify Building Supervisor of all injuries immediately.
  • Notify Building Supervisor of rule and regulation violations.
  • Turn in any lost and found items to the Building Supervisor and keep them in a neat and organized fashion.
  • Assist in activities as needed; proper equipment, prepare areas, etc.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the full-time staff or Building Supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a Valparaiso University student with the ability to follow directions and perform the above duties in a friendly, yet firm manner.
