Microsoft Office PowerPoint

Overview

PowerPoint is a program that can create colorful and creative slide show presentations. Using this program can aid as a visual outline of a presentation or discussion, and could even be used to create a slide show of personal events. There are a number of features which help you produce a spectacular overview:

  • Use preformatted slides to arrange your text.
  • Make your presentation unique with various backgrounds and pictures.
  • Use slide transitions and sounds to add a different dimension.
  • Insert tables and charts for additional displays.

Importing Brand Templates

You can import the new branded templates into PowerPoint.  Here are the instructions for both Office 2010 (for Windows) and Office 2008 (for Mac).

In Office 2010 for Windows:

  1. Click on the 2007-2010 version at valpo.edu/brand/downloads/power-point.php
  2. If prompted, open the template in PowerPoint.
  3. Click on the View tab and select "Slide Master."
  4. Click the "Themes" button and select "Save Current Theme."
  5. Name the theme and click "Save"
  6. The template will now be available as a theme whenever you are creating a slide show.

In Office 2008 for Mac:

  1. Click on the 2007-2010 version at valpo.edu/brand/downloads/power-point.php
  2. If prompted, open the template in PowerPoint.
  3. Click on "View" then "Master" then "Slide Master."
  4. On the Formatting Palate, under Document Theme, select "Save Theme."
  5. Name the theme and click "Save."
  6. The template will now be available as a theme whenever you are creating a slide show.
