Cisco VPN to Be Retired

Information Technology will be retiring the aging Cisco VPN system on campus after Summer II ends, in advance of the Fall 2012 semester. This system has reached its end-of-life and newer technology is available. Anyone still using this system is encouraged to uninstall the Cisco VPN software immediately and begin using the new system.

The new web-based system is from a company called SonicWALL, and is much easier to use. A small downloadable VPN client called NetExtender is available that allows the user to access secure resources that aren't web-based. Information about this system, including how to access it, how to install NetExtender, and common questions are available on the IT website: valpo.edu/it/current/vpn/

For questions about the new web-based VPN system or assistance in removing the old Cisco software, please contact the IT Help Desk (webhelpdesk.valpo.edu, it.helpdesk@valpo.edu, or 219.464.5678).
