After you have successfully located the Valpo wireless signal you're web browser will be re-directed to the wireless login page. Use your ValpoNet username / password to log into this site. If you do not yet have Clean Access installed on your laptop, you will be prompted to download the software. Follow the directions of the installation wizard and then log in via your ValpoNet username and password.
If you already have the Clean Access client installed, you simply need to login before attempting to access web pages. The Clean Access agent will pop up automatically.
Clean Access will grant a temporary login if you are not fully updated before it allows full access. Laptops will need to have all current critical windows updates, installed anti-virus software, and updated anti-virus definitions. Students, Faculty and Staff can use Sophos Anti-Virus for free while they are enrolled in classes, working, or affiliated with the University.
The Anti-virus download can be found at: http://www.intra.valpo.edu/res/software/
When you plug into a network port or use wireless, a login box will direct you to the Clean Access download. Clean Access will enforce security policies by blocking, isolating, and repairing noncompliant machines such as those lacking Windows updates and anti-virus software, among other security measures. Noncompliant machines are redirected into a quarantine area, where remediation occurs. This enforcement occurs before malicious code can cause damage on the VU network. Those with non-windows systems will be expected to download programs to preform remediation suggested by Clean Access. The Cisco Clean Access client must be installed to access the wireless network.
Faculty and staff may wish to plug personally-owned laptops into their office network ports. In order for the computer to access the internet and VU network from the offices, it must be registered in the university's Bootp table. Use of network ports other than those in offices require Clean Access.
After receiving this information, IT will check the machine to make sure that the computer is free of viruses and has up-to-date virus protection. The machine will the be registered in the Bootp table.
