STUDENT VOICEMAIL

What's My Student Voicemail Box?
Your personal voice mailbox number will arrive automatically via VU e-mail whenever your room change is updated in the Datatel system.

Steps for Student First Time Access

Step One - record a ROOM GREETING
Note:Only one roommate needs to perform this step.

  1. Dial x1593 to enter Voice Item Maintenance. You will hear 'Voice Item Maintenance. Application ID?'
  2. Enter the room extension followed by #. (e.g. 2345#) Your room extension is provided in the mailbox assignment email.
  3. You will then hear 'Password?' Enter the password followed by #. (e.g. 1112345#) The default password is three ones followed by the room extension.
  4. Change the default password. Press 84. Enter the default password followed by #. (e.g. 1112345#) Enter the new password followed by #. Re-enter the new password followed by #.
  5. Press 5 to record the greeting. Press # when complete.
Very Important: The message will only direct the caller to the correct mailbox if you state each roommate's call menu number. If you received an email stating that your mailbox is option 1 on the menu, and your roommate is option 2, then you would want to record a greeting to that affect. Here's a sample greeting: “Hi, you've reached the room of Joe Smith and Jack Jones. We're not available to answer the call, so press one to leave a message for Joe, or press 2 to leave a message for Jack.”
  6. Press 2 to review the newly recorded greeting, 5 to re-record .
  7. Hang up to save the greeting.
