INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN & FACULTY CONSULTING CENTER OVERVIEW

Center Overview

The mission of the Instructional Design and Faculty Consulting Center (IDFC) is to provide faculty with the highest level of instructional design and instructional technology support. The IDFC staff members are dedicated to assisting faculty in the design and development of instructional materials for use in on-campus classes, hybrid or blended classes and distance learning classes.

We offer individual consultations, small group workshops and plan to offer online training in the future.

Instructional Design and Faculty Consulting Center is committed to providing faculty a variety of programs, activities and resources which aide in the support of the university’s mission of teaching, research and scholarly activities.

The IDFC is located on the first floor of the Christopher Center - Room 166. Center hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Functions

The major functions of the Instructional Design and Faculty Consulting Center are as follows:

  • Provide opportunities for improving teaching effectiveness.
  • Facilitate the integration of instructional technologies.
  • Provide professional development opportunities.
  • Serve as a referral service and as a resource unit for faculty.
  • Assist in the use of current and emerging technologies which can be applied to instructional and academic activities.
  • Development of technology-enhanced projects related to teaching and learning.
  • Provide training opportunities in the application of technology in instruction through one-on-one sessions, workshops, and other means as deemed necessary.
  • Advise faculty on the use of technology to support teaching, learning, and research goals.
  • Assist in the design, development, and integration of technology enhanced instructional materials.
  • Assist in the assessment of technology practices in teaching.
  • Assist in the development of online courses.
  • Create video or audio projects.
