Since the inception of the IT Fellows program, the program directors have sought to provide as professional student experience as possible. By fusing elements traditionally found in the corporate world with a competitive work-study program, the program directors have given the students skills uncommon to their peers.
This is accomplished through extensive enrichment seminars that juxtapose technical knowledge with interpersonal skills to create well-balanced individuals. These sessions cover some of the most contemporaneously important topics of the business world, such as the importance of an ePortfolio or cross-generational diversity.
This is not the only area in which Fellows supplement theoretical knowledge with hands-on training. Over the course of their first year, Fellows work in different cohorts where they are immersed in various departments of IT. During these five week internships, they are given in-depth instruction and given the chance to put their knowledge to use, by completing a substantial project. Through this application of abstract concepts, Fellows are able to see their knowledge come to fruition.
As you can plainly see, by the time Fellows are eligible for off-campus internships, they have had a great deal of experience in a multitude of areas. Their personal interest, knowledge, and pride in their work sets them apart from the pack, and the extensive professional development rounds out their training to make them an exemplary intern for any organization.
If you are still unsure that an IT Fellow might be the right type of intern for your organization, head over to the IT Fellows Blog, where you can see the unedited Fellows’ chronicle of their work.
