Information about a student’s records at Valpo are protected by the federal law called FERPA. In accordance with this law, information about the student can only be released by Valpo to specific individuals if the student has granted permission for its release. Parents, legal guardians, and other individuals can be granted access by their student(s) through DataVU in order to see class schedule, financial, and grades information. Each student has the ability to grant, modify, or remove access to these designated individuals through DataVU.
More information about and directions for adding this access for parents/guests are located on the University Registrar’s website. Once access is given, the designated individual(s) will have their own personal login for the DataVU system.
Resetting Parent/Guest Passwords
If a parent/guest is unable to access DataVU, they may reset the password through DataVU and a new password will be emailed to them.
Directions on how to reset parent/guest passwords are found in this ITicket article.
