Audio-Visual Specifications: General Requirements
Planning & Implementation
EIS Instructional and User Support (IUS) must be consulted before any specific project can be considered completed in its planning, implementation, and sign-off phases. EIS IUS must be consulted for selection of owner provided, contractor installed and configured equipment items to take advantage of grant and special discount arrangements VU may have at the time.
Requirements for all Solutions
- Compatibility: All implementations must be compatible with Crestron RoomView Pro AV Helpdesk Software
- Switching & Controls: All Control Processors must be Crestron (Ethernet enabled); Switching Equipment must be Extron (see VU Approved Parts List)
- Capacity: All systems must have at least 4 additional unused switch
port upon initial implementation.
- Electrical/Power Requirements:
- Control Location: two 20A 110V dedicated circuits w/ quadplex outlets
- Projector Location: one 20A 110V dedicated circuit w/ duplex outlet
- Peripheral (Computer/Presenter) Location: two 20A 110V dedicated circuits w/ duplex outlets; 2 power strips w/ minimum 8 outlets should be mounted vertically in the podium/lecturn to provide power in the furniture from those circuits.
- Telecom Infrastructure:
- Control Location: 4 UTP, 1 Coaxial (CATV) Outlet
- Projector Location: 2 UTP
- Peripheral (Computer/Presenter) Location: 8 UTP
- Environmental: 24 hrs/day year round 64-75 F; projector ambient temperature cannot exceed 75F; increased heat causes increased frequency of equipment failure
- Security: Control Systems must be located in secured room with heavy duty lockable door on separate EIS core. Electronic Security (card swipe) is required.
- Chalk Boards: Chalk Boards MAY NOT BE USED in any audio visual space. Chalk dust severely damages several pieces of equipment in audio visual systems.
Certification:
Installers must be vendor certified for any equipment used. Vendor best practices and guidelines MUST be followed at all times. Any deviation from this must be approved in writing by EIS.
Project Completion:
Source code, documentation, as-built drawing, and inventory information must be provided both in electronic format and hard copy to IUS. All equipment manuals, remote controls, extra cables and accessories, etc. must be neatly stored in the control location for future use.
Preferred Vendor:
VISTA Presentation Solutions is the preferred vendor for Audio Visual equipment and installation services to the University.
Training:
Installer must provide training to IUS staff on the management and use of the final implementation.
