Identity Manager--New this Fall

In today's world, passwords are nearly inescapable.  The average person has dozens of passwords for a variety of services, so it comes as no surprise that one or two may be forgotten from time to time.  If you find yourself in this situation at Valpo, all you need to do is go to Identity Manager at http://www.valpo.edu/it/valponet. Chances are you have logged in to Identity Manager before, but if you have not, you can log in to it using your user name and password (the same one you use to access e-mail at VU) to set up security questions.  Then if you ever forget your password, you can come to Identity Manager, click the "Forgot Password?" link below the user name box, and then enter your user name in the new window that appears. You will be asked to provide the answers to the questions you created, and upon successfully answering them, you can change your password!

Have you seen PHIL?

P.H.I.L. is the OneCard Management Station located in the 24-hour accessible area of the Union, just outside of the OneCard Office. At this kiosk you can place cash directly onto your Crusader Cash Account for immediate use. If the weekend seems to be here before you know it, your laundry needs attending to, and you haven't had a chance to go to the Cashier's Office in Kretzmann Hall to put money on your Crusader Cash account, don't worry. Visit your OneCard Management Station, place cash on your account and save money while utilizing your Crusader Cash. Don't forget about www.laundryview.com to set up an email alert to notify you of when your machines have completed their cycles.

DyKnow

Would collaborative note taking, classroom interaction, or computer monitoring increase the effectiveness of your teaching?  These are just some of the features found in DyKnow,  a powerful new interactive software system that aims at engaging students in and out of the classroom.

We have outfitted the Alcove on the first floor of the Christopher Center with Wacom tablets and the DyKnow software. If you would like to learn more about DyKnow, you can visit their website at http://www.dyknow.com or contact Bill.Klein@valpo.edu.

Self-Serve Heat Tickets

Have you ever wanted to report a problem to IT or check the status of a problem you have already reported, but you didn't have the time to call or come in to the Help Desk?  If so, then HEAT Self Service is for you.  With HEAT Self Service you can view all HEAT tickets you have in the system, open or closed.  You can also create and fill out a HEAT ticket for a new issue yourself.  Just log on to the Online Service Center at www.valpo.edu/it/osc and click on the "HEAT Self Service" link below the "Requests" heading in the left menu. If you entered requests last year online, the principle is the same but with a much smarter interface that will help you pinpoint your needs for tech support.
