The City of Valparaiso
The City of Valparaiso, with a population of approximately 31,000, offers a thriving downtown with numerous dining and entertainment options, a safe and diverse college town environment, and close proximity to Lake Michigan and the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. Valparaiso Law students take advantage of numerous externship, internship, and pro bono opportunities in the city of Chicago 55 miles to the northwest, in the state capital — Indianapolis — in the summers, and in Valparaiso itself — the county seat — where the courthouse and many social service agencies are located within walking distance of the Law School.
Valparaiso Law – Location
The Law School is located on the southwest side of the Valparaiso University campus in a park-like setting that is less than a mile from downtown Valparaiso. Wesemann Hall, the main law school building, is located at 656 S. Greenwich Street. The Heritage Hall Lawyering Skills Center is a newly reconstructed building. Located on the site of one of the University’s oldest buildings from 1879, it opened in Spring 2011. It is surrounded by a plaza and located at 510 Freeman Street just to the north of Wesemann Hall.
