Applying to Valparaiso Law
The admissions process at Valparaiso University School of Law is truly holistic, extremely competitive and therefore very selective. The LSAT and GPA alone do not guarantee admission or rejection. Factors considered in admission include, but are not limited to, an applicants:
- Ability (LSAT, GPA)
- Age
- Background, i.e. rural, inner city, etc...
- Character and Fitness
- Disability
- Educational background, i.e. strength of undergraduate school & major
- Extra and Co-Curricular activities
- Ethnic diversity
- Family History, i.e. the first person in their family to ever graduate from college, etc...
- Geographic diversity
- Graduation date, i.e. did they graduate 2, 3, 5, 16 years ago
- Letters of Recommendation, not how many but how strong they are
- Personal essay, i.e. writing ability
- Racial diversity
- Religious diversity
- Work experience, i.e. work during college and/or after college, etc...
Our scholarships are not automatic either. We do not have an automatic system where you get scholarships because you have 2 or 3 factors. Our scholarships are based upon the same criteria as admissions. We have limited funds and scholarships are even more competitive so only the best applicants get scholarships.

As an applicant to one of the four Indiana law schools, you may be eligible to become a Fellow in the ICLEO program, which is patterned after the national CLEO program.
