The private lenders listed below reflect a small number of the lenders our students use for private loans for law school. Neither Valparaiso University nor the Office of Financial Aid intends any specific endorsement of these lenders by including them on this page. Please note the following regarding these programs:

  • Interest accrues during any in-school period (even if principal is deferred)
  • Rate and fee ranges below depend on factors such as credit, and co-signer.
  • Some lenders may require a co-signer, please contact the lender for details.
  • Interest rates change quarterly based on market rates.
  • For current Prime and London InterBank Offered (LIBOR) rates go to www.banxquote.com/money.asp.

* Eligible Borrowers: at least 1/2 time, law
* Annual Limit: cost less other aid; minimum $500
* Interest Rate: In school: 3 Mo. LIBOR + 2.65; Repayment 3 Mo. LIBOR + 3.0% to 4.10%
* Repayment: Option to defer
* Fees: No fees
* Cover prior term balance: Yes

Law Access Loan . Phone: 800-282-1550

* Eligible Borrowers: at least 1/2 time, law
* Annual Limit: cost less other aid; minimum $500
* Interest Rate: 3 Mo. LIBOR + 2.7%
* Repayment: Option to defer
* Fees: Repayment 7.5% to 12.9%
* Cover prior term balance: Yes

Students who already have loans through other lenders may want to continue with that lender.
