Magistrate Andrew P. Rodovich ‘73, Northern District of Indiana was honored as the 2013 Trial Judge of the Year by the American Board of Trial Advocates. Judge Rodovich recently joined the faculty at Valparaiso Law teaching Evidence and Criminal Law courses.
John W. Lohrmann‘77, a Washington State Superior Court Judge, was elected to serve on the Church Council of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). The election occurred at the ELCA’s August 2013 Assembly in Pittsburg, PA. His six-year term began November 1, 2013.
Judge Nancy H. Vaidik ‘80, of the Indiana Court of Appeals has been selected to succeed Judge Margret G. Robb as chief judge of the state’s second-highest court. Vaidik, a native of Portage, IN, was appointed to the Court of Appeals in February 2000. She has twice been retained by election, in 2002 and 2012. Vaidik becomes the second woman to serve the court as chief judge.
Daniel R. W. Rustmann ‘89, has been named a Fellow of the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association Foundation. New Fellows were honored during the Foundation’s ninth annual Dennis W. Archer Public Service Award event on November 6 in Detroit, Mich.
Stephen Krentz ‘90 has been appointed as an Associate Judge in the new 23rd circuit in Illinois.
Daniel P. Lennington ’01, has been appointed Assistant Deputy Attorney General in Wisconsin. Mr. Lennington will serve as a legal policy advisor to Attorney General Van Hollen and Deputy Attorney General Kevin St. John. He will provide senior legal counsel on significant matters where the Department of Justice represents the state, state agencies or state officials.
Candace D. Armstrong ’04, was elected to the board of governors of the Indiana State Bar Association (ISBA) at its annual meeting in French Lick on Friday, Oct. 18. She will serve a two-year term, representing one of 13 districts in the state. Armstrong is a practitioner at her firm, Armstrong Law Offices.
James R. Flecker ’11, has joined the Syracuse law firm of Green, Cates & Grossnickle LLP. He now focuses on areas of the general practice of law including real estate, business entities, civil litigation and criminal defense. Flecker is a member of the Indiana, Kosciusko County, Porter County and American bar associations.
McStephen O. Solomon’12, also known at Max Solomon is running for Illinois State Representative. The election will take place on March 18, 2014.
Yvette V. Mishev ’13 was hired at Barnes & Thornburg LLP as a new attorney from its fall associate class in the firm’s South Bend office. She is a member of Barnes and Thornburg’s Litigation and Finance, Insolvency, & Restructuring Departments.
Collins Fitzpatrick– a National Council Member for Valparaiso Law School- was invited by the Turkish Academy of Justice to make a presentation in Ankara on plea bargaining and restorative justice and to make a presentation in Istanbul at the International Symposium on the Balance Between Freedom and Security in Fighting Against Terrorism.
