CASE LIBRARY INSTRUCTIONS
 

Welcome to the Sports Law Database. This database is a free service provided and maintained by the Valparaiso University School of Law Sports Law Clinic. This database contains searchable versions of rules, arbitration decisions and cases concerning a wide range of sports from all over the world.

HELP US BUILD AND KEEP THE DATABASE CURRENT. Please send any rules, cases, arbitration decisions or other sports law related material to sportslawclinic@valpolaw.net so that we may continue to provide the most comprehensive, up-to-date sports database available.

Directions. In order to search the database you must provide an email address. Do not worry, your email address will not be shared or distributed to any third parties. It will only be used to keep users abreast of new features and functions of the database. To begin searching, enter your email address into the text box and refer to the specific directions for using this website.

You must have Adobe Acrobat to view the documents.

Keyword Directions

  • First, enter up to five keywords into the text box. Please refrain from using conjunctions, prepositions, and pronouns (i.e. a, and, he, of) as the database will not produce search results. For example “Law of Associations” will not be recognized by the database, however “Law Associations” will produce a results list. The more keywords you use the more specific the results list will be.
  • Second, click the “Search” button with your mouse cursor. (It is important to use your mouse, the search will not occur by pressing enter on the keyboard)
  • Finally, a list will appear on the bottom of the screen. Click on any of the document the titles to view and print the full text of the document in PDF format.

The Valparaiso Sports Law Clinic attributes the contents of the database to the following sources: The International Federation of Aquatics (FINA), The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), The International Federation of Gymnastics (FIG), The International Federation of Rowing Associations (FISA), The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), The United States Anti-Doping Association (USADA), The World Anti-Doping Association (WADA), The Badminton World Federation (BWF), The International Canoe Federation (ICF), The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), and The Sport Dispute Resolution Center of Canada (SDRCC).
