Law Firm Giving Challenge

This fall, Valparaiso University Law School is embarking on its first Law Firm Giving Challenge – a friendly competition that promotes participation in the Law School Annual Fund by alumni at leading law firms in Indiana and the Chicagoland area.

Participating in the Challenge is an ideal way for those at law firms to support the Law School while showcasing our respective firms and strengthening the alumni network within and between participating firms.

The Challenge is an important component of the Law School’s fundraising efforts, but it is also a way for alumni to set an example, foster camaraderie and pride among our alumni, reconnect alumni to the Law School, and increase the participating firms’ visibility among current Law School students.

To that end, the winners of the Challenge will receive special recognition on the Law School’s website, the Law Review, as well as visibility during alumni gatherings and networking events, when requested.

Collective efforts can and will make a powerful impact on your Law School. If you are at a participating firm, please help your firm achieve 100% participation by making a gift by June 30, 2013 – remember, a gift of any size counts toward your firm’s participation rate. If your firm is not already participating in the Challenge, consider joining the program as a Firm Representative.

Goals of the Challenge

Participating firms compete for the highest percentage of alumni who make a gift to the Law School Annual Fund. Representatives from each firm are asked to rally support for the school among their colleagues by encouraging a gift of any size. The goal is 100 percent participation.

The Valparaiso Law Firm Giving Challenge seeks to raise giving rates among alumni as well as enhance the Law School Annual Fund, in turn benefitting current students. In addition to supporting a host of student programs, increasing the Law School Annual Fund participation rate is critical to enhancing Valparaiso Law’s reputation and demonstrating alumni satisfaction with the Valparaiso Law experience. Throughout the challenge, alumni will deepen their connection to Valparaiso Law and fellow alumni by contributing to a broadening base of support for their alma mater.

The Law School Annual Fund

Gifts to Valparaiso Law help to attract and retain world-class faculty and exceptional students, help the Law School offer a rigorous and innovative curriculum, and help promote an intellectual environment that encourages collaboration and spirited debate. Areas of support include student scholarships, technology and facility upgrades, and practical development opportunities for both students and faculty.

Who is Eligible

Any firm with two or more Valparaiso Law alumni is eligible to participate in the Law Firm Giving Challenge. One person must serve as a Challenge representative. The representative will be responsible for encouraging fellow alumni at the firm to make a gift so that together they can achieve 100 percent participation.
