First Year Legal Research - Law 131/181 (A,B, & C)
Welcome to the law!
Here at Valparaiso Law, we take our responsibility to prepare you for your career in the law very seriously. We know that before you'll be able to apply the law you're being taught in your doctrinal courses, you'll have to know how to find it. Over the course of two semesters, we will teach you how to effectively and efficiently use virtually any source you may encounter either while clerking or as a new associate.
Objectives for the First Year Legal Research Course:
- To insure that students understand the role that authority plays in conducting legal research.
- To insure that students can identify legal sources and can effectively use the material that each source contains.
- To insure that students can examine a legal problem and select source(s) that may help to resolve that problem.
- To insure that students understand that competent legal research is an important aspect of their legal education.
