Monday, May 14, 2007
A Valparaiso University law librarian, retiring this spring after nearly 20 years of service to the institution, has been granted emeritus status by the University’s Board of Directors.
Naomi Goodman, technical services librarian at the Valpo School of Law, was conferred emeritus status effective July 1 by the Board at its quarterly meeting on campus.
Since joining Valparaiso’s staff in 1987, Goodman has been active in both the American Association of Law Libraries and the Chicago Association of Law Libraries. She served as editor of the CALL Bulletin from 199 to 2001 and was president of CALL in 2005-2006.
Goodman was appointed to the editorial boards of the Law Library Journal and Spectrum, the two official publications of the AALL, and was a column editor for Spectrum from 2002 to 2004.
She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Queensland in Australia and a master’s degree in library science from the University of New South Wales. Before coming to Valparaiso, she worked in the law library of the University of Sydney, was a reference librarian at Hammond Public Library and taught library cataloguing and classification at Purdue University Calumet.
