Two Valparaiso Law alumni elected to Indiana State Bar Association board of governors

Two Valparaiso University School of Law alumni have been elected to the board of governors of the Indiana State Bar Association (ISBA).
Hon. Tim A. Baker, of Indianapolis, was elected to the board on Thursday, Oct. 11. Baker will represent District 11 and his term will expire Oct. 16, 2009. Marci J. Ferree, also of Indianapolis, was elected to the board of governors and as chair of ISBA's Young Lawyers Section on Thursday, Oct. 11. Her term will expire in October 2008.
Judge Baker currently serves as U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Southern District of Indiana. From 1995 until his appointment to the bench in 2001, Judge Baker served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana. He was in private practice from 1991 to 1995 with Barnes & Thornburg in Indianapolis, and from 1989 until 1991 he served as a law clerk to the Hon. Larry J. McKinney, Chief Judge of the Southern District of Indiana.
Judge Baker earned his B.A. in journalism from Indiana University in 1984 and was an award-winning writer for the Indiana Daily Student. He graduated with distinction from Valparaiso University School of Law in 1989, where he served as editor and writer for the Valparaiso University Law Review.
In 2002, Ferree started an Indianapolis law practice Ferree Law Office. In addition to her practice, she holds a part-time contract with the Marion County Public Defender Agency representing parents whose parental rights are at stake and performs pro bono legal services through the Neighborhood Christian Legal Society. Ferree received her B.A. from Purdue University in 1991 and her J.D. from Valparaiso University School of Law in 1998.
