On Friday, February 15th there will be a special event in our Professionalism Series that will be appropriate for all students. The Executive Directors from several regulatory agencies of the Indiana Supreme Court (Judges and Lawyers Assistance Program, Commission for Continuing Legal Education, and the Disciplinary Commission) will be coming to present two important programs:
“A Life in the Law” (9:00 am to 10:45am in Ulbricht). This program provides insight into the interaction between legal practitioners and the regulators of the profession. The program will provide an introduction to each of these agency’s missions and highlight how these agencies interact with lawyers throughout their entire careers.
“Trust Account Primer” (10:45 – 11:30am in Ulbricht). This program is particularly important for 3Ls and those who may enter private practice. G. Michael Witte, Executive Secretary of the Supreme Court Disciplinary Commission will highlight rules of professional conduct regarding trust accounts, an area increasingly responsible for disciplinary actions against attorneys. Attend this session to make sure your career avoids these potential pitfalls.
Refreshments will be provided at these events. Take an interest in your career and help ensure that Valparaiso Law is well represented to these agency heads traveling from Indianapolis to join us. Mark your calendar and plan on attending one or both events. Please RSVP here: http://www.valpo.edu/law/category/events

Faculty/Staff Bowling Team Wins Tournament of Champions
On Monday, January 18, 2013, the Faculty/Staff Bowling Team, Telminator 2: Judgment Day, defeated the student champions, Jailbait, in a hotly contested head-to-head competition, making good on Professor Telman’s “I’ll be back” pledge after last year’s tournament.
The Faculty/Staff team included, in addition to the Telminator, Chris (Never Miss) Childers, David (Let’s Show Them How They Bowl In) Cleveland, and Annie Mac(the Knife)Donald. Jailbait put up a valiant effort, but top bowler Daley Benson choked in the final round, perhaps because he was drinking some blue stuff that looked like antifreeze. Jailbait number 2 bowler, David (Daddy) Whitehead was not on top of his game, as he was hampered significantly by a cut on his bowling thumb that, upon close inspection, could actually be seen with the naked eye and almost bled. John VanDenburgh and Taryn Baker did their best, but they are essentially ballast on that team anyway.
