Valparaiso University Law School Professor Clare Kraegel Nuechterlein Receives the Governor’s Distinguished Service Medal

Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels presented Professor Clare Kraegel Nuechterlein, Distinguished Practitioner in Residence in the Law School, with the Governor’s Distinguished Service Medal on Nov. 30. She was cited for her “performance (which) has delivered measurable results to the benefit of all Hoosiers in a manner consistent with or exceeding the highest standards of her profession.” Governor Daniels presented the medal in recognition of Nuechterlein’s 6 1/2 years of pro bono public service as Chairwomen of the Indiana State Ethics Commission. The commission, which has the authority over 22,000 state employees, is the sole administrative interpreter of Indiana ethics, statues and rules. Nuechterlein chaired monthly meetings and presided over public hearings as Chairwomen of the commission.
