A Note from the Dean

Dear Alumni and Friends,

As the summer comes to a close, the Law School is on the brink of a new academic year. Many of our alumni who graduated in May have just completed the Bar examination and are ready for the next chapter of their legal journey.

On August 12th, 208 students arrived for 1L orientation. The fall semester will be a time of transition for not just the Class of 2016, but also for faculty and students involved in the new curriculum (largely affecting the 1Ls and 2Ls), for new adjunct faculty, and for members of the administrative staff whose duties and responsibilities have changed.

Our alumni constitute a core part of our institutional strength - legal education is changing and we are faced with a time where we need "all hands on deck." Students will need support from willing alumni who will mentor, work with faculty to aid in the experiential learning component in the new curriculum and who will even share their career stories to highlight the role Valparaiso Law has played in their lives.

We are working to stay connected with all of you. Through this e-newsletter, and other engagement opportunities, we are striving to keep you informed about the law school and about each other. I extend my personal welcome to the recent graduates and invite you to stay connected. To all alumni - please provide us with news about yourself and important alumni-related activities that we could include in future alumni e-newsletters. We appreciate your on-going support.

Sincerely,
Ivan Bodensteiner
Dean and Professor, Valparaiso University Law School
