Hospitals

Some deaconesses work as hospital chaplains.

Deaconess Patty Silva works at Selma Community Hospital in Selma, CA. She is the spiritual leader of the hospital staff, visits patients who wish to have spiritual care and is a member of the medical Interdisciplinary Team. Patty is provides training in the spiritual aspects of patient care and is available to provide pastoral care and support to staff, patients and family members. She is a liaison between clergy and patients/families, is a resource for advocacy and referral and provides weekly staff devotions. Patty provides prayer, services, and memorials, and oversees On-Call Pastors so that the hospital has 24 hour pastoral services.

Deaconess Kathy Garrison is a chaplain at Inova Alexandria Hospital http://www.inova.com in Alexandria, VA and as the Director of the Art of Pastoral Care Course for several pastoral-counseling organizations in the Northern VA area.
