Social Service Agencies

Some deaconesses work in Social Service agencies, assisting homeless, elderly, hungry and hurting people.

Deaconess Jean Warren is the Executive Director of Lutheran Community Services, Wilmington, Delaware. LCS's motto is "Sharing God's blessings by helping others in need." They deliver much needed food, clothing, housing, wellness, and spiritual support to thousands of low and moderate-income people in Wilmington and New Castle County, Delaware.

Deaconess Phyllis Pleuss is a licensed clinical social worker, who works at Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. She is a clinical supervisor for master's level in-home family therapists, para-professional parent support staff, and the supervised visitation program. Phyllis and her team work with families who are having problems: usually adolescents who are breaking the law, truant, or dealing with substance abuse issues; or parents with abuse and neglect issues. http://www.lsswis.org
