Adjunct Faculty Resources: ILL
ILL FAQs
Here you can find the answers to some of the more common questions with regard to requesting items via Interlibrary Loan (ILL) in the Christopher Center. For information on interlibrary loan in general, please visit the ILL Homepage.
Can I get items from other libraries?
Certainly you can. Through the Interlibrary Loan Department, faculty have access to millions of items from thousands of libraries around the world.
How do I request items?
To make an ILL request, you first need to set up an account with ILLiad, VU's Interlibrary Loan system. This will take only a few minutes, and can save you lots of time when you make ILL requests in the future. To set up your account, go to the ILL Homepage.
How long does it take for items to arrive?
It generally takes 7 to 10 business days from the time of your request to the item being ready for you to pick up.
NOTE: To expedite the processing of your interlibrary loans, it is highly recommended that you begin by searching for the items you need in a database, such as WorldCat or Academic Search Premier. Once you find a record you need, check to see if we have it, and if we don't, simply click on the Interlibrary Loan link within the database. This will bring up the ILLiad login. Login with your username and password, and your loan request form will be filled in automatically, including the full citation for the item. Be sure to click on the "Submit Request" button at the bottom of the form.
For more information, contact the Interlibrary Loan department, 219-464-5363, or email them at ill@valpo.edu.
