What instruction services are available?

The Library's Instruction Services team provides discipline-related, assignment-specific instruction. Because we customize each instruction session based on the class assignment and needs, the Instruction Services team provides sessions that range in content from a basic introduction to the Christopher Center Library Services and its many resources to the use of upper-level subject-specific research tools.

Each class receives an online library resources pathfinder, which enables the students to work through many research steps from one convenient webpage. Designed to complement the instruction students receive in their classes, these hands-on library sessions help them succeed at college-level research and writing, teaching them the skills they need to be information literate in today's high-tech world. How do I schedule a session?

An online form (www.valpo.edu/library/instruct/request.html) is available for your request; you may also contact Prof. Mileham directly (voice or email). We ask that you contact the Instruction Office two weeks prior to the date of requested instruction. This helps us to ensure that the proper staff, facilities, and resources will be available for your class.

We also ask that you send a copy of the class syllabus and library/research assignment to the Instruction Office at the time of the initial request. For the benefit of the your class, we also ask you to be present at the instruction session with the class.
