Professor Byrum joined the Valparaiso University faculty in the fall of 1997. Her primary work areas are Government Information Services, serving as the coordinator of the Map Collection, and chairing the Marketing Committee for Library Services. She also works in the Library Instruction and Reference areas. In addition, she is the library liaison to the Departments of History, Political Science, Geography, and Meteorology. On campus, she is a member of the MLK Day planning committee and the Committee to Enhance Learning and Teaching.

Areas of research interest include the study of database use in support of classroom teaching. In addition, Prof. Byrum studies library marketing and Public Relations.
