IMLS (Institute of Museum and Library Services) Interns: 2005

Partnering with library colleagues at Notre Dame, Indiana University at South Bend, and Holy Cross College, librarians at VU mentored five college-bound high school graduates for eight weeks over the summer of 2005. This project was funded by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) to encourage minority students to consider librarianship as a career choice. The five students were recruited from local high schools.

During the IMLS Diversity Program, the interns worked in circulation, technical services, government documents, and worked on special projects. Each student was assigned a librarian mentor to work with during their experience. One of their individual projects was to create a personal website; links to these websites can be found below.
