IMLS (Institute of Museum and Library Services) Interns: 2006
Partnering with library colleagues at Notre Dame, Indiana University at South Bend, and Holy Cross College, librarians at VU mentored four college-bound high school graduates for eight weeks over the summer of 2006. In its second year, this project was funded by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) to encourage minority students to consider librarianship as a career choice. The students were recruited from local high schools.

During the IMLS Diversity Program, the interns worked in circulation, technical services, government documents, and worked on special projects. Each student was assigned a librarian mentor to work with during their experience. One of their individual projects was to create a personal website.
