Sunday, June 25-Tuesday 27, 2006

Born Identity

Featured Speaker:Rev. Jim Wetzstein

Rev. Jim Wetzstein

After having been a parish pastor for over 12 years in Gary, Indiana, Pastor Jim Wetzstein has since been the Associate Dean of the Chapel of the Resurrection at Valparaiso University.

Pastor Jim is a friend of this retreat having played different roles over the last several years. In 2003 he and Pastor Scott Moore were the featured speakers. Pastor Jim has also led several workshops in the area of art.

This passion for the arts is evident specifically as the creator of the Agnus Day Cartoon sent to over 1,000 people around the world weekly. The humor of this cartoon depends on stupid puns, bizarre pop-culture references and Ted's chronic self-centeredness. (Check out www.agnusday.org for the latest after-church conversations between two sheep, Rick and Ted.) Wetzstein also has a passion for liturgical art for which he travels around the country as a consultant for a number of churches.

When not on campus, pastor Jim enjoys time with his wife, Tracey and Gabe, their 8-month old son.

Featured Artist: Jonathan Rundman

Jonathan Rundman

The Light In Thy Light Youth Retreat is excited to welcome back Jonathan Rundman.

Growing up in the isolated Finnish communities of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Jonathan Rundman has drawn comparisons to singer/songwriters Paul Westerberg and Freedy Johnston for the decidedly homespun quality of his "heartland" rock. Using the geographical isolation of his youth to his advantage, Rundman formed a musical vocabulary grounded in the budding strains of Americana/roots rock, Lutheran hymns, traditional American folk music, and '70s rock to present a uniquely eclectic variant of Midwestern rock.

Jonathan enjoys speding time with Dawn, his wife and Paavo, their son.

Check out www.jonathanrundman.com to learn more about Jonathan's music and upcoming tours.
