Admissions decisions for Valpo’s MBA program are made on a holistic basis, with consideration given to undergraduate and post-undergraduate academic performance, professional work experience, letters of recommendation, and the GMAT/GRE.

Both U.S. citizens and permanent residents should apply to the MBA program as domestic students. Please follow the appropriate procedures for the degree program to which you are applying. 

MBA Students

To apply to the MBA program, please submit:

  • A completed MBA Application.
  • A $30.00 Application Fee, payable to Valparaiso University and sent to the MBA Office.
  • Two Letters of RecommendationClick here to enter your recommenders’ email addresses, and we will contact them directly.
  • Cover Letter: A one-page personal statement explaining how an MBA will help you meet your career goals. Email to mba@valpo.edu.
  • Résumé: Email to mba@valpo.edu.
  • GMAT or GRE scores: Valparaiso University’s institution code is 1874. Please note a minimum GMAT score of 500 or a minimum GRE score of 304 is required.  GMAT waivers are available based on GPA and work experience.
  • Official Transcripts - electronic preferred.  Must be sent directly from institution to mba@valpo.edu.  If electronic is not available, have institution send official transcript directly to MBA Office at:

Dual Degree J.D./MBA Students

Admission to this program requires acceptance to both the Valparaiso University Law School and the MBA program. These decisions are made independently by the Law School and the MBA Program. Admission into one program does not guarantee admission into the other.

To apply to the MBA program, please submit:

  • A $20.00 Application Fee, payable to Valparaiso University and sent to the MBA office.
  • Two Letters of Recommendation for the MBA. Click here to enter your recommenders’ email addresses, and we will contact them directly. (We cannot accept the letters you submitted to the Law School.)
  • Cover Letter: A one-page personal statement on how a Valpo MBA will help you meet your career goals. Email to mba@valpo.edu.

  • LSAT or GMAT scores: Applicants with LSAT scores of 147 or higher can send in those score sheets to waive the GMAT requirement. Graduate Management Admissions Test or GRE scores are required for those without a GMAT waiver. Please note a minimum GMAT score of 500 is required.
  • Official Transcripts: from all undergraduate/post-undergraduate institutions. These transcripts must be sent directly from the institution, preferably electronic to mba@valpo.edu.  If electronic transcripts are not available, have them sent directly from the institution to our office at:

Applicants who have had official transcripts sent to the Law School may request that their files be sent to the MBA Office. We can use the copies of your transcripts that they have on file.

Valparaiso University welcomes applications from qualified

international students. At present, more than 40 nations are represented in the University’s student population. Our admissions requirements and guidelines about the F-1 student visa are summarized in the MBA Admission Standards for International Students (pdf). Proof of English proficiency.Please use Institution code 1874 and your score sheet will be sent to us electronically. Proficiency means:

Cover Letter: A one-page personal statement on why you wish to obtain an MBA from Valpo. This can be emailed directly to our office at mba@valpo.edu.

Official Transcripts: For all degrees obtained outside the United States, we will need an official third-party transcript evaluation to verify validity of documents and determine whether degree is equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree. We suggest evaluation from World Education Services (WES): select ICAP course-by-course transcript evaluation. Transcripts should be submitted to WES showing completion of bachelor’s degree. We will also accept credential evaluations from AACRAO and from firms that are members of NACES.

GMAT or GRE scores: Valparaiso University’s institution code is 1874. We require a GMAT score of 500 or above. We will also accept the GRE. For citizens of Iraq, the GRE is regularly offered by Amideast.

Affidavit of Financial Support.This Affidavit form indicates that you have funds available to you to cover the full cost of studying at Valparaiso University.

A copy of a current passport showing your full name and date of birth. This can be scanned and emailed to mba@valpo.edu.
