Advanced Placement and the Math Placement Exam
Before even starting a first semester in our department at Valparaiso University, students can get college credit for several introductory courses by taking Advanced Placement courses in high school. Students without college credit for Calculus (vis AP, dual enrollment, or transfer credit) will take a placement exam during summer orientation (i.e. Focus)
that will, based on probably major, guide the selection of the appropriate starting point in quantitative coursework. Click here for more information on both of these items.
