Mathfest Conference August 4-6, 2010
This year's Mathfest Conference, hosted by the Mathematical Association of America, was held in Pittsburgh, August 4-6, 2010, and several members of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science attended.  Assistant Professors Melissa Desjarlais and Alex Capaldi began their year long participation in Project NExT, a professional development program for beginning faculty. Assistant Professor Shane Drew completed his participation in Project NExT. Assistant Professor Lara Pudwell attended a short course on Sage, a free open-source mathematical software package. Associate Professor Ken Luther presented the paper Is Your Integral Zero?. Besides attending many committee meetings, Professor Rick Gillman co-presented the minicourse A Game Theory To Quantitative Literacy. Senior Kelsey Watson presented the paper Generators of the Symmetric Group, describing her summer research at Canisius College.
