MATH/METEOROLGY WORKSHOP

Mathematics and meteorology faculty will host a workshop Friday and Saturday, February 22 and 23, that will help develop guidelines for what undergraduate meteorology students around the country should know about mathematics.

The workshop, taking place under the auspices of the Mathematical Association of America, will bring together several Valpo professors and 14 meteorology faculty from universities across the country.  Dr. Bill Marion, Professor of Mathematics & Computer Science, helped organize the conference as a member of the MAA's Curriculum Foundations II steering committee.

"The main goal of our workshop is for mathematics faculty to hear the concerns of meteorology faculty," Dr. Marion said.  "We want to learn how mathematics programs can support and improve learning in meteorology courses."
