Should YOU be a MUSIC COMPOSITION MAJOR at VALPARAISO UNIVERSITY? At VU a limited number of strong musicians pursue a professional
composition degree (the Bachelor of Music). The intensive
curriculum provides comprehensive preparation in musicianship,
history, theory, composition and performance skills, in the
context of a liberal arts general education. Our faculty of
musician-teachers co-operatively create a positive environment to
encourage all music students to view composition as a natural part
of whole musicianship. Original compositions by faculty and
students are regularly programmed in public concerts and recitals,
in more informal workshop situations, and in worship at the Chapel

The Music Composition Major (Bachelor of Music) is an intensive professional degree program, consisting of 74 credit hours in music, and 54 credit hours in general education and electives.
