Jennet
Ingle has been Principal Oboe of the Illinois Symphony Orchestra since
1997, and currently serves as Instructor of Oboe at Valparaiso University
and oboe faculty at the Pine Mountain Music Festival in Upper Michigan.
Beginning in the 2002-2003 season she is also Principal Oboist for the
Northwest Indiana Symphony. She has been noted for her "extraordinary
artistry and virtuosity" (Illinois Times) and the "intimacy and
spirit of fun" (State Journal-Register) of her performances.
She is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music, where she studied with
Richard Killmer. Formerly a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago,
Jennet has also won a Farwell Award from the Musician's Club of Women.
An active freelance career has led her to perform with top organizations
such as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra,
and to solo with the Illinois Symphony and the Suburban Youth Symphony
Orchestra. Ms. Ingle has also served as Principal Oboe with the Spoleto-USA
Festival Orchestra, and can be heard on that group's recording of Kurt
Weill's Die Bürgschaft, available on EMI Classics. As a
founding member of the Barossa Quintet, she has performed on the Dame
Myra Hess concert series and at Ravinia's Bennett-Gordon Hall, in addition
to countless educational performances in the Chicago Public Schools through
the International Music Foundation. Since 1998 she has owned and operated
Jennet Ingle Reeds, a growing business specializing in customized oboe,
English horn, and oboe d'amore reeds.
