There is a place for every student musician at Valparaiso University. Whether in a selective/high-profile, recreational or learning situation. All Valpo ensembles emphasize development of skills and musicality. Performance opportunities include bands, choirs, orchestras, chamber music ensembles, opera/music theatre productions, choir, music ministry, concerto appearances, solo recitals, and community musical activities.

In recent years, Valparaiso ensembles have performed across the nation at notable venues including Symphony Center in Chicago, Severance Hall in Cleveland and Carnegie Hall in New York.  Regional, national and international tours are part of the regular performing cycle for the select ensembles.  Closer to home, jazz ensemble students play regular off-campus gigs at a local restaurant and in Chicago.  The Kantorei perform in festive liturgies around the greater Chicago area, as well as in their home venue, the Chapel of the Resurrection.  The concert bands and the symphony orchestra appear in regional venues such as the Valparaiso Memorial Opera House and in school settings throughout the region.  Internationally, Valpo ensembles have performed in major European cities including Prague, Vienna, Budapest, Leipzig, Dresden, in various locations in the United Kingdom and the island of Malta.  Many VU music students have taken advantage of the opportunity provided by Valpo to travel and perform in China with the American Youth Symphony Orchestra as well.
