BiographyEmily Smith holds both a bachelor's and master's degree in bassoon performance from Indiana University where she studied with Kim Walker, Andrew Barnes and Benjamin Coelho. Since graduating, she has performed with several orchestras including the Des Moines Symphony, Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, Northwest Indiana Symphony, South Bend Symphony and DuPage Opera Orchestra. She is curently a member of the Lafayette Symphony, LaPorte County Symphony and South Shore Orchestra. She is the Youth Orchestra Manager and Education Coordinator for the Northwest Indiana Symphony. In addition to teaching at Valpo, Ms. Smith is the bassoon instructor at VanderCook College of Music Chicago and St. Joseph's College in Rensselaer and also maintains an active teaching studio in Lafayette and throughout Northwest Indiana.
