What is the New Ideas (formerly Big Ideas) program all about?
We know that many exciting and big ideas come from within our own campus walls. That is why we have redeveloped the Big Ideas program into an ongoing pipeline for submitting ideas into the University. And because not all great ideas are big, we have renamed the program, New Ideas.
New ideas can be about anything, but in general, ideas that have the following criteria are most likely to be passed on for consideration:
Significantly advance the University's mission, vision, reputation, and recognition.
Bring greater alignment between academic and strategic investment priorities.
Transform the University's impact on society.
Excite students, faculty, staff, donors, and other community leaders.

The first phase of this New Ideas process is ongoing and open to all members of the campus community. Anyone with an idea can develop and submit a short 2-3 page prospectus online covering the following:
A basic description of the idea.
The overarching rationale for the project and how it will advance Valpo's strategic direction.
An estimate of the overall demand and/or need for the project.
A general estimate of the overall cost and return (i.e. enhanced reputation, societal impact, academic benefit, efficiencies gained or financial benefit).
