Professor to speak about artist Frank V. Dudley

Fri, November 2, 2001 |

A scholar who has studied the work of Frank V. Dudley will be at Valparaiso University's Brauer Museum of Art Nov. 9 to talk about the artist's life and art.

James Dabbert, senior lecturer in humanities at Illinois Institute of Technology, will speak at 7 p.m. in the museum. The lecture is free and open to the public.

In his lecture, "Frank V. Dudley: His Life and Art in the Indiana Dunes," Dabbert will talk about Dudley's life and development as an artist. Dudley (1868-1957) was born in Chicago and maintained homes there and near the Indiana Dunes.

The Brauer Museum of Art owns 13 Dudley paintings, including three currently on display. Two paintings, Tremont and Sandlands Even Song, were acquired this year. Also on display is Duneland, which has been a part of the VU collection for several years.
