Biography

Professor Koch joined the faculty in the summer of 2000. She teaches in the undergraduate and graduate programs. Prior to coming to Valparaiso University, she taught within the undergraduate nursing program at Indiana University Northwest.

Professor Koch has gained expertise in the role of Family Nurse Practitioner through collaborative practices in family practice and speciality surgical practice settings. She has held Allied Health Staff privileges at local community hospitals. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she remains active in the Family Nurse Practitioner role and local advanced practice nursing chapter.

Professor Koch's research interests include client centered management of chronic disease processes. She has been an invited poster presenter at the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners National Conference in 2000, 2003, and 2007 and serves as a reviewer for the Journal of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the Journal of Professional Nursing. She is an active member of Sigma Theta Tau International and has a STTI on-line continuing education program focusing on heart failure. Additionally, she serves as a site evaluator for the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. She has published clinical case studies on lymphadenopathy, back pain, and thyroid nodules. in The American Journal for Nurse Practitioners. She is a contributing author for an upcoming pathophysiology textbook by F.A. Davis.
