BiographyProfessor Kurtz began teaching in the undergraduate program in the fall of 2003. Prior to coming to Valparaiso University, she taught in the undergraduate nursing program at Rush University and practiced as a Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist at Rush North Shore Medical Center. Professor Kurtz has much experience in the hospital setting and has worked in orthopedic, surgical and critical care nursing. She has developed expertise in the area of adult psychiatric nursing through 15 years of work in the acute care setting and her current collaborative practice in an outpatient psychiatric office. Her interests include holistic nursing and the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders.
