November 21, 2000
Dear Members and Friends of the IWRA:
I hope you had a wonderful summer (and early fall). The
fall meeting this year has been scheduled and we are sure
that it will be worth the wait. We have arranged for
interesting program but I also want to encourage you to
attend the morning business meeting. We have had
increasing participation at the business meetings the last
few years and I'd like to see this trend continue. An
important item on the business agenda is the election of
IWRA officers for 2001. Nominations for 2001 officers are
Don Arvin, President; Jack Wittman, President Elect;
Glendon Williams, Secretary; and Kathleen Fowler,
Treasurer.
The topic of the fall meeting is "Solid Waste Management at the Landfill" and will include a tour of the Twin Bridges Landfill by Waste Management Incorporated on Wednesday, December 6. The meeting will take place at the Twin Bridges Lodge on the southeast side of Danville. There will be a presentation by Brad Eisenhart of WMI and a tour of the operation. The landfill show and tell will be followed by a presentation by Greg Overtoom of the Office of Land Quality at IDEM. Greg will describe the State's recent efforts to organize and manage the data generated by landfills in the state. There is no charge for the fall meeting and registration will take place at the door. Directions to Twin Bridges Lodge are on the other side of this announcement. Call (317) 745-2878 if you have trouble finding the lodge.
I want to thank Jack Wittman, Mark Basch, and Rosemarie Hansell for their help in organizing the program. Please call Jack Wittman at (812) 876-9399 if you have questions concerning the meeting. I look forward to seeing you December 6.
